Re: The story of Sulgogar
They have. I remember a briefing in one of the Taerkasten missions, which told me that Sulgogars literally "suck" the minearls out of the earth, so that normal Terrain becomes cliffy and a desert is formed. Maybe thats why you encounter them in north africa / egypt first.MarcOlle wrote:I think that it doesn't need constructions, but would be interesting if it has their own influence on scenario, like Mykonians has their mykonized levels...

Re: The story of Sulgogar
From what we know about the people they need to live in these domes due to radiation, as eddie said.
But to the idea what's good about it:
Look China: They can really fast adopt to what is best and they can and will ignore the few people that make protests. I.e they banned the production of biological fuels out of rice etc.
Energy Revolution can be easly started and China is the world biggest fabricant of solar panels and windturbines.
The downsides are obvious and Chinas problems are , compared to europes problems (even with finacial crisis) small. Air pollution, Internet ( source for democary thoughts) etc...
The other downside of capitalism can be seen in US. Consuming 25xtimes more water in a year than it rains. Massive deficit, low educational standards, land deeply divided. Horrendous costs for wars and the military system. Extreme addiction to oil imports( well that counts for most countries).
But tbh: currently are all countries and governments kinda gently caress due to climate change.
BTT: I would guess that the story is just like of higher animals; i.e Ants.
The live to survive.
And somewhere I read that human are not food but fertilizer( Microsoft UA page)

Re: The story of Sulgogar
Uh... Why don't we discuss ideology of factions in a forum topic that's made for it?
Anyway, I think the Sulgogars could clone themselves through some sort of asexual reproduction, as budding cells or many plants do. It could also allow for genetic variation.
I often think of Sulgogars as just their green swampy hovering jellyfish vehicles, but are they really? The Sulgogar introduction movie shows some weird creature as seen here: http://youtu.be/X1pYycu_Rvo?t=16s. Are those the species? Or is it a Queen of Queens? Or is that image what their vehicles would look like if UA had better 3D graphics, who knows. I wonder the same for the Mykonians.

Re: The story of Sulgogar
With regards to the creature depicted in the alert video I was always under the impression that they are the true form of the Sulgogars (or at least an important variety). The units seen in game are their vehicles and vessels. The thought that occurred to me is at some point a Sulgogar vessel crashed and Resistance scientists peeked inside and what they saw made its way to the enemy alert video.

Re: The story of Sulgogar
I guess that could also possibly account for the Black Sect being able to create some Sulgogar vehicles.Edward Fox wrote: The thought that occurred to me is at some point a Sulgogar vessel crashed and Resistance scientists peeked inside and what they saw made its way to the enemy alert video.
Their vehicles are almost organic... It says in the help file about the Blue Spore or Little Brother that one of them is genetically different by only a fraction of a percent. I think that creature from the video is separate from their vehicles, but it's almost as if the vehicles are living things too.

Re: The story of Sulgogar
Also a distinction could be made between living and sentient Sulgogar units. All Sulgogar "technology" is organic but perhaps blue spores and little bothers are nearly mindless drones.

RE to the Leonid Guy, a campaign for the Sulgogars would be to easy. They are so freaking hard to beat and the AI sucks, so you would just roll them...

Not necessarily, if UA were to be given a new lease of life, improved game engine and AI, I think they'd make for quite an interesting campaign.ThatDutchGuy wrote:RE to the Leonid Guy, a campaign for the Sulgogars would be to easy.
