Well Leftylink, at least he didn't use the title, "all hail the static". I generally don't have much use for the static simply because it costs to much for it's role which is shown in the level smile. If it was balanced however, it would be the most deadly unit in the entire game. For those of you who played that level on a windows 95/98 computer, you know how hard it is to break through that wall of statics . Every single aircraft is destroyed by statics (they have that push you away affect and do a decent amount of damage). Light and medium tanks just don't have the hitpoints or armor to cut through. Serps are shot down before they can get in lock on range and even then, they have to die to kill their target (not to mention that a static could just move down to ground level to avoid it entirely). Heavy tanks are killed before they can get in range due to their slowness. The rhino's rate of fire is to slow to be of any use against a group of statics. With all that said, their are only two decent options.

1: Rock Sled 'em. Create at least 3 rock sleds (more is always better), put them in single file line, and send them to their target. Make sure your the last one in the line as the first two will die when getting close. This method is the best way of getting rid of them but this is a resistance and single player only thing.

2: Scout in circles. Create anti aircraft vehicles (taerkastens will have to resort to eisenhans), and then create a scout and jump into it. Send everything you've got towards the statics. While your units are on their way, fly your scout in circles above and around the wall of statics. Make sure not to accidentally fly to far off or the AI will ignore you as a scout and fire on your aa tanks.

A few notes on that level in particular...

This is why you catch the Mykonian Host Station as it is moving between the two eyes (wow, someone could totally make a stupid joke about giving them a hit between the eyes there...) which tends to happen once sometime within the first ten minutes of the game... I usually look for it right after I've surprised the Ghorkovs and beaten them to a pulp. That way you totally bypass the uber wall of Statics. Otherwise, I surely remember that wall gave me some trouble too.

In general, Warhammers can dodge Static shocks and destroy them with the funky boomerang hammer type missile thing, though of course you need to be piloting the Warhammer personally. That, or abuse the fact that it takes time for them to change altitude... charge them with tanks, and they become momentarily susceptible to letting a plane slip through their defenses... when they rise up to meet the challenge (... er... enough stupid wordplay for today?) they're letting tanks through again to deal a blow below the belt...

Leftylink, please tell us the fate of your tanks when they got through that wall of statics and had to deal with myko flaks. ;) I surely don't teleport my host station anywhere near a myko host station just for the simple fact that there may be a group of quaddas nearby or beneath it and they kill you to quickly before you can create anything and beam out. You truly have to have the correct counter for every myko attack as one measly mistake can cost you precious energy and then some...

I like to strike the mykos after they have sent an attack, fly a falcon in, capture the power, and beam your HS in. Make lots of weasels (with the GIgant weapon fitted) and beam out. Have fun...

I guess so. On level Smile, I use rock sled after rock sled to make holes in the defences!
