Kinetic Energy! Hahahaha, but seriously, how about electromagnetic energy? Combined with plasma forming tech, as those cables sorrta suggest that it must transfer something, and we usually use wires to pass electricity... though it is true that the mykonians aren't human so goodness knows...

No they are ion cannons, it says so in the mission briefings (somewhere, or was it the help files)
High efficiency too so all the power gets turned into ionic energy which is released in high burst pulses

or simplely, they just use ion for their egy source also can using by weapon with pure EGY
