Hi all. why don't we try making a new UA? I think that with some programmers, we can make a new engine for UA 2; i don't know very much about programming. I saw some ideas, and i think they very well for begin a project.

Hola a todos. Por que no intentamos hacer un nuevo UA. Pienso que, con algunos programadores, podemos hacer un core para nuestro UA 2. Vi algunas ideas y creo que son bastante buenas para comenzar un proyecto.

As i said: write design document first. Then code.
C++ developer. Failed to learn OGRE and worked in gamedev. Alcoholic and chain-smoker.

well im not a expert in programation but i can do it... im better in Graphics :D!!!

I'm a programmer, and I have written one (simple) game during university.

I would be willing to invest the time working to UA2 if the idea actually went through.

First we must discuss each and every feature in game, then we will have some requirements to the engine, then choose one of free engines, or collect a team of coders and write from nothing, designers draw new units and textures, etc, and here we go, in five years we will have alpha-release.

As a programmer... a few comments to say.

You need YEARS of experience to be able to write a game like this. Though I am a programmer, I lack this crucial experience, and will be of little help if this gets started.
We'll probably want to use an already existing open source engine instead of writing something from scratch; makes things much easier.
The most convincing recent effort I've seen was Anarchid's Spring mod, but he seems to have disappeared, so maybe the rest of us will have to pick up the slack there?

Not really disappearing, just having some stupid reality coming to mess with my plans. I won't probably be able to do any actual work on teh mod in the near future, but if anyone is interested in pushing it forward to victory - i'll help at least by explaining how what works.

The UA2 Project is very very old; a lot of guys, just like you, wanted to do that. I'd say to present our ideas to Radon Labs so maybe a day, if they'll make UA2, they will put "From the ideas of the SC Community!" :P
