Time to open a thread for another FPS/RTS/simulation series... Many people here know these games but does anyone play them? I just ordered Battlezone 2 from eBay. Let's see how UA-like it is.

Never played bz or bz2.

I was hooked on a game called 7th legion from micropose.

I tried playing descent 3 but just couldn't get the hang of it

No UA2 yet but some good news for all FPRTS fans anyway: A remake of Battlezone (1998) has been announced.

Nice! Battlezone series definitely deserves another chance.

I was not confident about Rebellion being in charge of a development process of remaking 1980 arcade BZ at first time. However it sounds fascinating that they were also planning to create an exclusively remastered 1998 BZ version. If there would be any major changes to be made, hopefully they won't go too far off track from the foundational concept and design of the original game (Although I won't have any kind of objections even with heavy alterations since Rebellion had already bought a legitimate copyright of the title 'Battlezone' from Atari, so now they are the authoritative people who possess an official right with the title).

Official trailer has been released and the game should be available soon. Looks very much like the original:

Battlezone 98 Redux now available on Steam:

I played a couple of levels and it seems to be almost exactly like the original, with somewhat refurbished graphics and support for modern systems (this was actually implemented in the later BZ 98 patches as well). I haven't tried multiplayer yet.
