Factions Flags

Post by MarcOlle » Sun Mar 04, 2012 8:51 pm

I was thinking... If the factions have flags... How would they be?

It is just how it look, not the "HD image"...
Did you like? I'm accepting constructive criticism for edit color, positioning...
I'm also creating the HUD of UA2, but then I create another topic about it...
Trying to do a comeback...

Ghor's first flag looks good

The Taer one too, but remember each color symbolises something and brown white etc might be the wrong symbols ( I'm not sure though)
maybe look up what color has what meaning.

Good work.
GET YOUR HANDS OFF FROM THAT PARASITE!

i suggest choosing colours that indicates something not just randomly
and try to put some more symbols that refers to something ( like the stars on the U.S flag )
for example u can add a number of stars that refers to the number of the things that can be created by the faction
this is just an example, let your imagination work :D

Nice. :) I think the Taerkast logo might be better if it were yellow. Now it reminds me a bit of the Black sect. :D

Is there a reason why the Taerkast flag looks like a variant of the gay bear subculture flag?

Yep, I searched "brotherhood flag" and came that, but is just a example, I'll make better soon, but the idea of use their symbols on flag are good, right? Probably I'll add stars, maybe some words... Thing like that..

But the scheme of the colors are good, right?

I was wondering....

The first Ghorkov flag looks the best. It would be nice if the flags followed the rules of heraldry (in my opinion) as that would keep them looking neat.

I made several dozen flags yesterday giving a rather loose vexillogical history of the human factions but am at a loss as to how to upload them all.

For the moment though here is a sample:

The first flag is a variation of the Resistance bicolore which takes its design from the first Resistance flag (not shown) which was a variation of the NATO flag. The seven stars symbolize the seven SDU champions. The official flag of the Resistance until the destruction of the Parasite (not shown) consists if fifteen blue and white lines.

The second flag is the Russian "Purity" flag, the first native Ghorkovian design and produced as a response to the betrayal of the Resistance. Unlike previous communist regimes the Ghorkovs, for the most part, eschew gold in favor of white for their flags, emphasizing the purity of the movement. There are numerous official and unofficial variants to this design.

The third flag is a typical Taerkast flag. Due to their rather loose structure Taerkast flags take a variety of forms but are almost always limited to gold, white and black designs. Early in the war the Taerkast symbol was more prominent but as time progressed the tricolore gained popularity. The gold represents the sky, the black the Earth, the white the power under the Earth.

Your flags are more interesting than mines, but I'll do soon new, flags, for now I have no time...

But one thing, I beleive that the Resistance flag could has a symbol that indicates resistance, not an alliance. The Resistance is an alliance, but the alliance of the "ocidental" ideals, but the true idea for them is that they are battling the "evil" that comes from the aliens and the opposing factions. If they were still friends with Ghorkovs, would be interesting a flag like that to indicates the "friendship", but not to indicate a whole nation.

I don't follow what you mean.

By the time the above flag is introduced all NATO governments cease to exist in any meaningful sense. I mentioned NATO because historically that is where the my Resistance designs come from.

It will make far more sense when I upload all the designs.
