Later this month I hope to have a program or two that will allow us to easily import and export textures from DATA\SETS\set.bas and DATA\OBJECTS\*.bas files... Hopefully this will enlarge our modding support base

I have MANY ideas for making UA better... :D
1. Better modells and textures
2. Multiplayer with Onlinesupport and Serverbrowser
3. Turrets for Tanks (maybe like World of Tanks) :D
4. limited ammo ( ammo gets reloadet if you are near a energystation/friendly hoststation)
5. "Quick battle" Mode for SP (like MP battles but with bots and you can make teams ect...)
6. maybe a "garage" room like the mechlab from Mechwarrior 4 to customizade your vehicles (Camo, Weapons ect...)

If I have new Ideas i will post them... :D
I dont know much about modelling ect. but i hope that you guys will bring some of these ideas into the game...
(im german im very sorry for this bad english :D)

Welcome, MaxXxiking \o

Number 1 is possible to a certain extent, but we don't completely know the model format. Also, UA doesn't support high-resolution textures. GoldStar has been trying to reverse engineer the format and he has made some editing tools.

Nr. 2 is not possible, but there's a program called GameRanger which makes it easier to find players.

Nr 3 is not possible; there's no such a feature in the engine of UA.

Nr 4 is possible but reloading will not work that way. I don't exactly remember how the reload acts when you exit a vehicle and the AI takes it.

Nr 5 is not possible (it's possible to enable all levels but choosing factions independently is not).

Nr 6 is not possible. Only tech upgrades and modifier scripts can be used to change vehicle properties. Also, not all parameters can be changed in-game.

These are all for original UA. If someone makes a remake of it then all these can be implemented.

To add, more "super-suggestions that will never happens"UA Multiplayer special server could be created with a giant "world"of maps and the players could cooperate themselves with their favorite factions like"defending the same terrain"against other enemys like a multiplayer server with lotsa of maps,so...nevermind..sorry...

I've heard that the UA developers didn't paid much attention into multiplay gaming interface since back then MS Zone has promised about that they will fully support the all games from their own side as well. But after the early fall of the MS Zone... some of the games were considered to be doomed.

The suggestion for a Quick Battle(Random Map, Custom Game...) gameplay has been proposed later among the developers, but eventually didn't added into UA because the MS has constrained the developers to release their game ASAP. Also many annotations from the game script claims about they are not fully fixed/tested/modified yet. Which means probably MS was imminent enough to put them into crunch time in order to release the game right now.

Some of online games out there seems to have similar playing role like this. Let's say that each factions have their own unique 'Capital Point' or some sort of basis sector which cannot be conquered by the others, and all other no-mans land can be conquered by the players from each factions. Whenever some players are wanting to strike another sector then the place can be considered as a battlefield for in-game environment. If there are no defenders present at that time then AI should be dispatched to deal with attackers. Although this kind of gameplay should be implemented into Real-Time based function...
