Hello and welcome back! :D

Many things have happened this past year. There was a massive disclosure of unreleased UA contents from the sale arranged by Climax Studios to dispose their obsolete assets.

Not only did it contain the various Alpha and Beta versions of UA, but also the original source code from the developers as well as the mythical console porting works that were shrouded in a deep mystery. Apparently the company was directly responsible for developing the console ported version of Urban Assault (with limited functionality and gameplay), so they still possessed the older game files and prototype data they received from TerraTools and Microsoft long time ago.


That's not the only thing worth mentioning. If you haven't yet, I highly recommend you to have a look at 'UA:Source' currently being developed by Zidane.

UA_Source is an open-source, total game engine recreation project of Urban Assault from the scratch. The project is still in a development stage, but it is perfectly compatible with the original UA and Metropolis Dawn contents.

With UA_Source, the game is now virtually fully-moddable at C/C++ level. We can freely modify or even add our own codes directly into the game's algorithms (I've been mostly fiddling around with low-level AI modules for my own personal experiments); and that leaves the full comprehension of the various types of .BAS files and their structures the only remaining frontier to be pioneered in future (and that's probably where GoldStar611 and Ormu have been working on). :mrgreen:

At a minimum, it greatly improves the game's performances in numerous ways and also fixes the majority of undesirable bugs and glitches that were present in the original UA. It is hard to describe how marvellous and prodigious work of art it is, with Zidane's UA_Source the new possibilities in Urban Assault are infinite; and only the sky's the limit.

Wow! I have seen something on YouTube about some amazing multiplayer battles in a big edited world and I noticed how vehicle speed, colors, icons etc were edited, and everything looked very cool!

As for the ALPHAS and BETAS, I have read something here on the forums, seen some amazing screen and - REALLY - all this excited me too much! Because as some long time UA fans knew and know, I've been looking for these versions for years. Actually I haven't had the possibility to download and se them because I'm still offsit and haven't my computer with me untile the beginnings of July.
A question about the betas: is it possible to play the beta of the training videos or the ones to us abailable are a little bit different?

And, are you guys stil playing online?

Multiplayer scene is rather inactive as far as I know. :|

Bronsteijn24k probably has most knowledge of the beta contents. As far as I have understood (based on the discussions in Discord), not all content that is visible in the videos and some other documents is present in these beta versions.
